Weekend in Lisbon

My tips for a weekend in Lisbon

Where to stay?
We stayed in the Hostbell hostel in the city center. One night in a shared room is for 15E, breakfast included. Everything in the hostel is super new and shiny, the kitchen and the bathrooms are great, they give you towels, and there are many little details that make you enjoy your stay. The only negative thing I can think of is the fact that there are just two bathrooms so you can imagine the waiting in the evenings and mornings.

Where to go?
Lisbon is such a beautiful city, we walked more than 10 kilometers every day because the little streets in pastel colors are just wonderful and we also really dislike public transport. Even the Oriente train station is pretty!
I don't mention any delicious food and cozy cafés because this city is a food paradise, I could spend all my money in the restaurants there, so a post just about yummy veggie food is coming soon.

• the pinkest street: Nova do Carvalho
This is the pinkest place I've ever seen and it really has its charm even though I don't like pink. At night it becomes one of the main party streets, so if you are able to party and continue exploring the city the next day I'm sure it's a cool place.

• Rua Dom Luis
You can find this modern building full of light and symmetry in the Rua Dom Luis, it would definitely be a cool spot for a photoshoot!

• Cristo Rei
We came to this place, not because of the Cristo Rei statue, but because of this amazing view over the "Golden gate bridge". When we first tried to reach this viewpoint we terribly failed, because  the way description I found was too old I guess and the bus that was supposed to get us to the other side of the river just didn't go, after that we took a train at a little train station in the "middle of nowhere" which was going the opposite direction... So if you wanna go just take the ferry from Cais do Sodré, and then bus number 101.

• Stare at azulejo
You can find these beautiful tiles all over Portugal, but Lisbon is the paradise. You see these little pieces of art basically everywhere you go. I'm really in love with Portuguese azulejo ♥.

• Elevador de Santa Justa
We actually passed this elevator by accident when we were looking for a second-hand shop, we didn't go up, but the queue was so long the view must be really worth it. But also from the ground, it's a pretty cool place.

• Street art
Lisbon is full of beautiful street art, one of the most amazing ones I've ever seen, so keep your head up and enjoy the free gallery. It's also one of the main reasons why you should use as less public transport as possible because you have to go through little empty streets to find some of these masterpieces.

• Miradouro Das Portas do Sol
Too bad we didn't go here for a sunset, because it must be incredible. Also, the surrounding of this place is wonderful, the pretty yellow Lisbon tram passing, blooming trees and little streets with street art.

• Belém
I know that it is not possible to go to every place in the morning, but if you wanna truly enjoy this nice area get up early. It was so incredibly crowded, still beautiful, but I enjoy such popular places ten times more when there are not so many loud people around.

• Secondhand Humana
There are actually several Humana stores in Lisbon, one is just a few minutes from the cool elevator. I don't like shopping, but in secondhand stores, it feels more like a treasure hunt and you support a good thing, so if you were looking for a cool second hand, this is your place to go!

Have you been to Lisbon?

  1. Máš nádherný blog. :-) Přiznám se, že Lisabon mě k návštěvě úplně neláká. Mám jiná vysněná města. .-)

  3. To je krása! A na fotce u Santa Justa ti to fakt sekne! Pořád se nemůžu rozhodnout, zda pro první návštěvu Portugalska volit spíše Lisabon, nebo Porto. Nu, asi to vyhraje destinace s levnějšími letenkami. :D
