10 not so typical things to do in Prague

10 tips from a kind of local

Go to a language exchange
There's regular language exchange organized by Speakeasy every Sunday near I. P. Pavlova. You can practice a language you're learning or just speak your mother tongue. It's a great way how to meet locals and travelers from all over the world. It's fun and it can really help you if you're a bit shy to speak.

Go to the municipal library to see this piece of art
The Infinite book tunnel is stunning, especially if you like reading.

The National Gallery
If you're a student you go for free and if you're a bit into art you should definitely go.

Visit one of the cat cafés in Prague
There are various cafés where you can drink your coffee while hugging a cat, or at least watching them (cats are moody and they don't want to be petted and hugged 24/7). I've been to Cat Café Social Point near the Dancing house, where you pay 90CZK per hour- you prepare your own tea or coffee and can eat as many cookies as you want. I've been there twice and it was never crowded.
The next cat café I can recommend is Kavárna Kočičí near Florenc, I've been working there for a couple of months, the cats are amazing, friendly and the cakes there are fantastic!

Go into the wild at Divoká Šárka
It's a bit out of the center, right on the way to the airport.  If you like escaping the city while traveling but don't want to go far Divoká Šárka is your place. Nature, nice paths, good views and not many people around.

Spižírna 1902
The café with the prettiest ceiling ever. Delicious food, cakes and coffee. If you go with someone don't expect too much eye contact because the ceiling steals all the looks! It's one of my favorite cafés in Prague where I always like to go if you wanna have breakfast here rather make a reservation.

Enjoy the view from Vyšehrad
Easily reachable with the subway, beautiful views and a wonderful park with a monastery (or a church? I was never able to remember this kind of things, but it's beautiful!)

More views at Žižkov monument
It's a twenty minutes walk from Florenc and it's not crowded. The park around would be perfect for a picnic, the place is very photogenic and there's also a nice view.

Modern art and photo exhibitions in DOX
If you want to visit DOX you should plan enough time for it. Once you pay you can go to all the exhibitions, which is great but takes time. There's a little cozy café inside if you need a little break. And don't worry if you get a bit lost there, for me this place is like a labyrinth.

Mansfeldský palác
You can go to this not well known fairytale place for free and it's right in the city center.

Why kind of local? I've been living in Prague for only eight months and even though I love Prague I don't feel home there and don't consider myself a local yet.

Have you been to Prague?
